You're getting married in a year and you need a wedding photographer. You Google "wedding photographer" and get 640,000,000 results. You narrow it down to "wedding photographer London" and get 210,000,000 results. You Google "fun wedding photographer London" and somehow the results double. So you have a look at a few sites. They all have really great photos and they all say how relaxed they are and how they will just blend in like a guest and capture your memories. ARGH how do you choose? You obviously need to meet or Skype with a few to see what they're like as people. They will be there all day at your wedding, after all.

But how do you know which ones to even get in contact with? Surely there must be a way to find out what they're like without having to stalk their personal Facebook profile. So you have a peek at their 'about me' page. Ooh! This person says they were born with a camera in their hand, then studied photography at uni. They must be pretty good, ok tab saved. Ooh this person says the exact same thing, ok neat, next. Hmm they all kinda say the same thing and actually that doesn't really tell me much about what they're like to hang out with at a wedding.

You go to another photographer's website and their about me page says how much they love Game of Thrones and browsing second hand furniture shops on a Sunday afternoon with their French Bulldog Frank. YOU love Game of Thrones too! AND you have a French Bulldog! It's meant to be! You email them immediately and practically beg them to come and shoot your wedding.

The ONLY thing setting you apart from your competition is YOU. Your photos look the same to the lay person. Your prices are the same as most people in your town. You describe your photography and style of shooting in the same way as a lot of other photographers (documentary wedding photographer anyone?) so use the ONE thing no one can take from you: Your awesome self!

How do you do this?

1. Write down 3 weird and wonderful things about you
2. Write down where you live, what kind of house, who with, what pets and kids you have
3. Write down your fave hobbies
4. Write down what TV shows or movies you go nuts for
5. Write down what you do on a weekend off
6. Write down what makes you awesome to have at a wedding (maybe you are a terrible dancer and make everyone else look good)
7. Write down what your client is looking for and how you can be that for them

10. Pick some photos of your kids and/or pets if you have them
