About the kick ass workshop
This is an alternative wedding photography workshop to get you out of your comfort zone, get you booking awesome couples and help you take super fun wedding photos.
This intimate workshop is held in the mountainous French Pyrenees, where we’ll stay in a converted mill with 12 acres of land, surrounded by woodland, with a river, outdoor hot tub and a heated pool. There will be learning, shooting, swimming, frolicking, and lots of games of Cards Against Humanity.
♥ How to attract fun couples ♥ my secret weapon for bagging the bookings ♥ writing a kick-ass about me page ♥ how to succeed and be happy ♥ how to capture the fun at a wedding ♥ ideas for staying creative ♥ embracing the rain ♥ getting your couples to be adventurous ♥ successful blogging ♥ nailing dancefloor shots ♥ and getting to grips flash – technically and creatively.
We also have one to one sessions where I will go over your website and portfolio and help you make any changes necessary to make your copy come alive and attract the right couples using both words and photos.
You’ve been shooting weddings for a year or so and are starting to carve out your own style. You don’t want to be just a face in the crowd, you want to stand out and create photos that are fun and engaging. You know what you want to achieve but perhaps don’t quite have the confidence to go for it.
You love weddings because they’re fun and you get to have a creative outlet. Your goal is to shoot every wedding how YOU want to and for couples to book you for YOU.
At the moment you probably feel like your website is lacking sparkle and for some reason you keep getting not-quite-right couples. You’re here because you want to give your website and brand some jazz, and start booking perfect couples throwing awesome weddings where you can act like their mate and enjoy every second. And that’s what you’ll get!
The workshop is run by award-winning wedding photographer Anna Pumer Photography. I’ve been shooting weddings for almost four years and I get the coolest, silliest, most fun and relaxed couples. I make sure everything I do, from the work I show to the words I use, attract these couples (and repel the wrong ones).
Before wedding photography came into my life, I was a magazine editor and a writer, and I use these skills to teach you not only how to take awesome photos but also how to write for your audience and use your words to attract the right couples.
I’ve been awarded Rising Star in UK Wedding Photography by Photo Professional magazine, shortlisted for Best London and South East Wedding Photographer at the Wedding Industry Awards, and shortlisted in the Hitched Breakthrough Awards and Professional Photographer of the Year Award.
I’ve been interviewed twice by the awesome photography podcast PhotoBizX, who has interviewed the likes of Jonas Peterson, Ryan Brenizer and Dan O Day. You can listen to my podcasts here – one about what makes me tick and how I work on the day, and one about my branding and business.
You’ll come away with:
♥ An awesome About Me page
♥ A defined personal style
♥ Ideas for blog posts
♥ Confidence to nail dancefloor photos
♥ Ninja candid skills and confidence to shoot up close
♥ Killer flash skills
♥ New friends. Ooh! friends!
The cost and what you get for your moolah:
– 3 full days of workshop funs
– 4 nights’ accommodation in a converted mill in a twin room shared with a fellow photographer so you can gossip and share midnight snacks
– Food from Monday evening until Friday morning. We won’t let you go hungry
The mill is in an hour and a half south of Toulouse. To get to the workshop, you can fly into Toulouse or Carcassonne.
You can hire a car (handy for side trips) or get the train and someone will pick you up. I recommend hiring an automatic car (just easier when you already have to think about driving on the other side of the road) and get/bring a sat nav.
I’ll add you to a secret Facebook group so you can discuss car shares/lifts/games to bring.
This is the house we’ll be staying in! It has a dog called Nina and she’s adorable.
What to bring?
It’s likely you’ll be flying with hand luggage only, so I recommend bringing:
- Your camera, your favourite lenses, a flash and a set of triggers if you have them. (Don’t worry if there’s anything you don’t have – chances are someone will have a spare!)
- Comfy clothes for lounging around
- Some fancy clothes for a fancy evening of being fancy. The more elaborate the better!
- A pair of comfy shoes
- Slippers or thick socks (the floor can be chilly!)
- Sunglasses and sunscreen (we can hope!)
- A laptop (not necessary but might be useful)
- Any accessories you want to shoot with
- Swimwear (towels provided)
- Any games you love playing
- Your fave 10-15 wedding photos printed
Kick Ass students say
“Anna’s one to one workshop was great! We must have laughed our way through the whole day together and I still came away with tons of super useful tips and advice! Thanks Anna!” Livvy Hukins
“If you want to capture the fun at a wedding and get right into the action then don’t hesitate BOOK THIS WORKSHOP! I’ve been ‘stalking’ Anna for erm ages and so pleased I finally got to meet her and learn her way of thinking during the entire wedding day. The tips I have picked up have got me raring to go to my first wedding of the year. She holds nothing back and it was a completely relaxed and easy going day. The couples shoot was also awesome and gave me the confidence to go straight out and do an engagement shoot without panicking about how to pose them. Big high fives for this workshop.” Sarah Pavitt – Lilybud Photography
“I can’t stress enough how fantastic this workshop is and how useful it has been for me. Anna is incredibly friendly and knowledgeable. By the end of the day I felt that I had acquired new skills, hundreds of ideas for my business and a new friend! I would highly recommend this workshop to all aspiring kick ass wedding photographers like myself, it really is inspiring.” Nikki van der Molen
“Anna’s fun and relaxed approach meant that the workshop was totally shaped around what we needed. She talked us through an entire wedding day and how and when to take control of situations in the day in order to achieve the results we want. I found the info on blogging and SEO particularly useful. The couples shoot was just too amazing and I have some of my favourite photos I’ve ever taken. I have always struggled to pose couples and I now know how to pose a couple and keep it natural which has really helped my confidence in that area. In summary, it’s ACE, book now!!” Louise Rogers – Buttons Photography
